We had a wonderful time camping over the August long weekend this summer. We went to six mile lake, near Port Severn, halfway between Barrie and Parry Sound. It was a hot and sunny weekend and the campground was packed, but our site felt quite private. We stayed for three nights with Heather, Dan and Seb staying with us for the first two nights.

It was so great to get out of the City and into cottage country. Noah loved having a fire, his first taste of S’mores, playing around in the lake, sleeping in a tent, and entertaining us all as you’ll see in the busker video.

What’s that you say? From July? Yes, we’re a bit behind… But, you’ll love this album.

Enjoy our exploration of the New Brunswick side of the Bay of Fundy. Marco and Irit loved their surprise trip to the Nova Scotia side of the Bay of Fundy following an aborted Cape Breton excursion some time around 2004. And we’ve always wanted to go back.

This trip was inspired by the desire to visit our good friend Deb who moved from Toronto to Fredericton New Brunswick. The album starts off in Fredericton and then chronicles our five day trip along the Fundy Coast. We ended up in Halifax before coming back to NB to fly home.

It’s a long album, with 200 photos, but seeing as how we started with over 1000, it’s a pretty good edit! Enjoy the album.

It’s so cool to be standing in the middle of a forest, looking over a cliff into a small river… The only thing that reminds you that you’re in a city are the highrises in the distance. Very serene and fun and we had a blast on our hike, then playing in a park, and then lunch together.

A great day. Enjoy the pics.

They have fun in their little group. Our neighbourhood was really creative this year and we didn’t get to all the streets where people had really outdone themselves. We even had someone juggling fire this year!

It was loads of fun, Noah got enough treats to last him for months (well, unless his parents get into it, of course…), and he had a blast with Leo and Mia.

Saturday, June 18, 2011, Noah had a fantastic pirate birthday party. After reading a fun book called “Olive’s Pirate Party”, Noah decided he wanted one too! We had pirate decorations and lots of purple balloons (of course). We started the festivities with some pirate hat-making, followed by pirate challenges outside (on this gorgeous, sunny June morning), pirate cannon ball run (i.e. ball on spoon race!), pirate gold coin on sword relay race, and then a water balloon/cannon ball toss onto 2 chalk outlines of pirate ships.

After lunch we had the grand finale of the pirate treasure hunt, with the finding of the loot bags (video to come soon).

It was exhausting but tonnes of fun and the kids really got into the games. Enjoy pictures from the day! Yarrr!

Near the end of January we got a good dumping of snow, but too cold to roll up and make good snow people. We ventured out anyway and made a family of “snow lumps”, which are still out there. In the pictures, you’ll note some wacky faces. They’re made up of broken garden lights that we re-purposed for snow lump features.

Today, the temperature was mild, which, combined with a recent, relatively untouched snow dumping in the backyard, made the snow perfect for snow balls and, hence, the creation of snow people. Although the snow person (dubbed “noah the snow monster” by noah himself (vain much?) ) looks a bit different than your typical, textbook snow man, we think you’ll like him/it. Enjoy the latest album.

Sure, Vancouver got more snow, earlier, but it was inevitable that we would catch up here in Toronto. Today it looks like we got our first little bit of snow that is actually staying on the ground. So, we ran outside after lunch to play a bit in the snow like a good little Canadian family. Got a few pictures and a couple of short videos for you to enjoy.

Also, there’s one picture of Noah in what looks like a quite-too-long jacket on. Yeah, that’s papa’s jacket. We all went down to Toronto City Hall (Nathan Phillip’s Square) a couple of weekends ago for their “Cavalcade of Lights”, which included acrobats, music, lighting of the tree and lights in the Square, and a fireworks show. Very awesome and much fun (pretty sure Noah wants to be an acrobat now when he grows up). Of course, like any responsible parents, we forgot Noah’s winter coat. Obviously, it was the other parent’s fault, but we got creative and, thanks to winter layering, Noah was swankily decked out in one of papa’s jackets and an extra cardigan of mummy’s underneath and everyone was nice and warm and we enjoyed the rest of the evening!

Enjoy the pictures and videos!
